Advice for You, when you consider purchasing a Dogo argentino as your family member

A strong consideration is in order, you should really think it through; Why do you want a Dogo argentino? General appearance of the breed is appealing, but the whole consistance of the packet should be known, since the temperament and carricter rule when you live your everyday life with your dog. Sometimes it feels that we tell to puppy buyers too much of the demanding entity of a Dogo and the possibilety of problems, but we feel that buyers need to know what kind of a dog they are purchasing, they should see it how it is. This is how possible problems can be handled before situation gets out of hand and then the end result is not catastrophal. You should take care that you are the boss in your pack and the dog knows it too. When you succeed in upbringing and training a Dogo, it is the most owesome and loyal friend, and it does not hesitate to defend its´ beloved until the end. Breed suits well in families who have children, it just needs quality grownups. Dogo needs lots of activities, it is not a couch potato.

The rareness and unique carricter of the breed demands a lot from individual dogs owner. You need the ability to seek and learn new information. You should also be at least as stubborn and relentless as your dog, just sweet talking doesn´t apply with this breed. You need a strong self confidence: breed still has some degative reputation, and you may often have to explain your personal breedchoise to bystanders. By being friendly and sivil you do your own bit in reducing prejudice. So, Dogo is demanding and challenging, but very rewarding. In September 2002, breed had a permission to compete in different dog trials here in Finland. In the future it would be wonderful if more and more Dogos would be seen in trial fields.
